Earthy Embodied Authenticity
The Substantive Presence Of God
I read about
Jesus coming to His disciples
appearing, suddenly,
declaring “Peace”
Not in other worldliness
But in “earthy embodied authenticity” (Lectio 365)
This speaks to my very soul.
He calls me to be as He was and is
He calls me to follow
He shows me how to show up –
not in light, airy, fluffy ways
that speak of a presence
from another realm –
but in real, whole, substantive ways.
Ways that demonstrate my scars
invite others to touch and see,
to voice my physical needs
and gather others around the table of
community – to share a meal – and a life.
Earthy, embodied authenticity
to be, in all my humanness
to connect, as I am
to share, from where I find myself
to declare “Peace”,
as I invite Him in –
to our table,
our room(s)
our lives
