You are Heard
The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;
My God, my strength, in whom I will trust;
My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised;
So shall I be saved from my enemies.
The pangs of death surrounded me,
And the floods of ungodliness made me afraid.
The sorrows of Sheol surrounded me;
The snares of death confronted me.
And cried out to my God;
He heard my voice from His temple,
And my cry came before Him, even to His ears.
Psalm 18:2-6
When I cry out, my voice rises, even until the ears of my Lord.
From His holy temple, He hears me when I speak.
The Psalmist points out that my cry comes even to His ears.
That tells me that He not only hears me, it is more active, He also listens to my cry.
Have you ever talked to someone who heard what you said but wasn’t really listening?
Someone who could repeat back the words correctly but missed your heart?
The Psalmist tells us that our Lord, the One who is our rock, our fortress and deliverer, our strength, our trust, our shield and the horn of our salvation, our stronghold, that Lord is one who listens to the very cry of His children.
He is not a removed God, but a present God.
So open up your mouth and cry out to Him today.
He will not only hear your words but your very heart!
