Who Touched Me?
Now a woman, having a flow of blood for twelve years, who had spent all her livelihood on physicians and could not be healed by any, came from behind and touched the border of His garment. And immediately her flow of blood stopped. And Jesus said, “Who touched Me?” When all denied it, Peter and those with him said, “Master, the multitudes throng and press You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me?’ ” But Jesus said, “Somebody touched Me, for I perceived power going out from Me.” Now when the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling; and falling down before Him, she declared to Him in the presence of all the people the reason she had touched Him and how she was healed immediately. And He said to her, “Daughter, be of good cheer; your faith has made you well. Go in peace.” Luke 8:43-48
Jesus knew when the woman with the issue of blood had touched Him because He felt power going out from Himself.
But when Jesus knew the power had gone out, He didn’t need to stop.
He was on His way to Jairus’ house to heal his daughter. Jesus was an important man with important things to do.
He could have kept on going and the woman would still have been healed.
But that is not the nature of Jesus, to heal without an intimate knowledge.
Jesus wanted to know the one that His power had touched, the individual, the one who had faith to reach for the hem of His garment.
And so He asked,
“Who touched Me?”
Jesus is asking that question of us today.
Jesus wants to know us, as individuals, as the ones that have faith to humble ourselves and reach for the hem of His garment.
Jesus wants to know us individually, not just as one of the many that throng around Him in the crowd. Today when Jesus cries out
“Who touched Me?”
will you be willing to speak up an identify yourself?
It will be the beginning of a wonderful relationship with Him.
Question for Discussion
