Trips and Trust
Starting our 11th day home since we were cruising
How time flies!
It was a glorious time
that we are so grateful that we had.
But since coming home
and working to get back into a schedule
and a groove……..
more and more as I dream about our cruise days,
the thought comes to me;
how fleeting time is
and how fleeting the things we use our time for.
Was our cruise awesome? YES!
Will we go again? YES!
But the fleeting time
and passing pleasure of things like this
reminds me of the importance of being clear
on what is most important.
And knowing what I trust in, above all things.
Today’s verse talks about trust.
“Some trust in chariots
Some trust in horses……”
In today’s world we may rephrase it:
“Some trust in their work
Some trust in their finances
Some trust in themselves…..”
It is easy enough to put our trust in the wrong things
and ultimately the wrong people.
What are you trusting in today?
How is that working for you?
Do you feel confident?
And settled?
And worry free?
The uncertainty of our world and our circumstances
require that we trust in something or someone.
In the past I have found myself trusting in many things;
then trying to be self sufficient
but only finding that to lead to more pressure,
worrying and more and more uncertainty.
The Word of God declares:
Some trust in chariots, and some in horses;
but we will remember the name of the Lord our God.
That to me has been a great revelation.
I don’t have to trust in things that are fleeting
I don’t have to trust in people who will come and go
I don’t have to be self sufficient so that my success depends on how bad a hair day i’m having
I can trust in the One
the Beginning and the End (the Alpha and the Omega)
Are your horses and chariots enough?
