The Beginning

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Genesis 1:1-2

In the beginning the Spirt of God hovered over the waters – hover= rachaph-to be moved, affected, especially with the feeling of tender love, hence to cherish.
The Spirit of God hovers over us today in the same way, over every new beginning, whether it is a new day, a new week or a new start.
Monday’s can be a challenge for many of us.
Back to work after a weekend where we may or may not have done all the things on our to- do list, especially the “relaxing part”.
A return to the routine where we don’t seem to have enough hours in the days or days in the week to accomplish the things we feel we need to accomplish.
But when we think about the fact that the Spirit of God hovers over even our Mondays, tenderly, cherishing both us and all the things that Monday’s represent in our lives, that could change the perspective a bit.
Monday’s are a new beginning.
And perhaps if we looked at them more like new beginnings rather than a return to the same ole, same ole, we could get more excited about them.
Would it be possible to begin to look at them tenderly, cherish them as new and exciting and filled with potential?
Let’s work on that this week!
