Thanksgiving
Oh come, let us sing to the LORD!
Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation.
Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving;
Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms.
For the LORD is the great God,
And the great King above all gods.
In His hand are the deep places of the earth;
The heights of the hills are His also.
The sea is His, for He made it;
And His hands formed the dry land.
Oh come, let us worship and bow down;
Let us kneel before the LORD our Maker.
For He is our God,
And we are the people of His pasture,
And the sheep of His hand.
Psalm 95:1-7
Happy Saturday morning of Thanksgiving Weekend!
The psalmist begins by calling us to sing unto the Lord, to shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. Rock =tsuwr=a refuge, a sharp stone or strength.
We have reason to sing to the Lord, The ONE that brings us refuge through salvation in Him.
Then the Psalmist tells us to come before His presence with thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving =towdah =extended hand, confession, praise and thanksgiving.
That tells me that we are to come into His presence openly, hands extended, ready to give and receive, with joy and not begrudgingly.
Then the Psalmist reminds us of whom the Lord is: great God, great King, whose hands are the deep places of the earth and the heights of the hills.
The sea and the dry land are His as well.
This understanding of who He is should cause us to worship=shachah=bow down.
When we entered willingly and opening and understand who He is, we will then understand who we are.
We are the people of His pasture and the sheep of His hand.
So many things to be thankful this morning, this weekend and every day of the year.
Despite where we find ourselves or what condition we find ourselves in, we know that we know that we know, that we can come into the amazing presence of the Lord, willingly, in thanksgiving and worship, and in that place, He will show us who we really are.
Go forth and be willing and thankful today!
