Seeking God
I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear,
But now my eye sees You.
Job 42:5
Monday morning musings.
The kitty is still sleeping at the bottom of the bed
The bunny is in the backyard having some clover for breakfast
The sun is shining
The leaves are rustling in the trees
The super moon is only a memory and a series of pictures on Facebook
My tea is cold and my heart is filled with the love of the Father that I find in the Word as I do my morning devotions
It is Monday – again
New day, new week,
Hope
A moment in time.
In doing devotions this morning I ran across this question about Job – after he suffered through many struggles he openly questioned God and God’s plan for his life. In the end, Job didn’t get any answers to his questions, but what did he get?
I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear,
But now my eye sees You.
Job 42:5
Job grew in his relationship with the Lord – he no longer just knew about God, he now KNEW God.
In his suffering, in his pain, in his confusion, in his despair, Job opened up his heart and cried out to God. He questioned his situation, he questioned God’s plans for his life, he even questioned the moment of his birth.
Job cried out in honesty and in pain and the Father heard his cry.
God answered.
In various ways God answered.
Mostly, God asked Job where he was when he created the earth and all things in it?
God never did give Job a detailed explanation of why things are the way things are or why they were so difficult.
But……..God and Job had a discussion.
Job sought God out and God was to be found.
And in the end, Job set aside his need for answers and declared
“BUT NOW MY EYE SEES YOU”!
What a wonderful declaration of relationship.
“BUT NOW MY EYE SEES YOU”!
What a wonderful declaration of relationship.
No longer would Job depend on the words of others to tell him about the Lord
His eyes were now open and he could see the God of creation for himself.
Where are you today?
Do you know of the Lord?
Or do you have an intimate relationship with Him?
Have you heard of the goodness of the Lord from others?
Or can you say that you have “tasted and seen that the Lord is good”?
Jesus cries out to you today:
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
“For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”“
Matthew 11:28-30
His burden is light because He is calling you, not to rules and regulations, but to relationship.
He is calling you to come alongside and walk with Him
He is calling you to come alongside and allow Him to share your burden.
Start with the questions you have for the Lord.
Even the psalmist cried out :
How long, O LORD? Will You forget me forever?
How long will You hide Your face from me?
Psalm 13:1
As Job, when we seek the Lord and cry out to Him, even in our despair and questioning,
He will come alongside and answer the cry of our heart .
We may not get answers, but what we get will fill the deepest recesses of need in our soul
We will see the Lord!
