Faithful One
This I recall to my mind,
Therefore I have hope.
Through the LORD’s mercies we are not consumed,
Because His compassions fail not.
They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.
“The LORD is my portion,” says my soul,
“Therefore I hope in Him!”
The LORD is good to those who wait for Him,
To the soul who seeks Him.
Lamentations 3:21-24
The writer finds himself in a situation, but chooses to recall to his mind, the faithfulness of the Lord. And through this choice to recall, he finds hope.
He remembers that through the mercy of the Lord, we are not consumed.
Why are we not consumed?
We are not consumed because the Lord provides new compassions for us each morning.
Because of the faithfulness of the Lord we serve, no matter where we find ourselves at the eve of the day, or in the dark of the night, His compassions are new every morning –
they come bright and fresh and beautiful with the morning sun, rising up within us,
even as the sun comes over the horizon.
Today is a new day.
It is not yesterday and it is not yet tomorrow.
It is today.
And today, in this very moment, the compassions of the Lord are new –
great is His faithfulness towards us.
Find hope in that today!
