Love Generously

Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due,
When it is in the power of your hand to do so.
Do not say to your neighbor,
“Go, and come back,
And tomorrow I will give it,”
When you have it with you.
Proverbs 3:27-28

We are called to love.
We are called to love those who love us and those who don’t love us.
We are called to love those who treat us well and those who don’t treat us well.
We are called to love.
The thing about real love is that it expects nothing in return and it gives generously.
Proverbs clearly indicates that we are to do good to others when we have the power to do so.
It says that when you have something with you, don’t tell your neighbour to come back another day, but give it to them at that moment.
I believe that most of us want to love generously.
I believe some of the issue is that we truly believe we don’t have anything to give.
We are concerned about having enough for ourselves, whether it is in time or resources, and because of that, we fail to see how blessed we are and how much we actually have to share with our neighbour.
Our Lord is the great Provider.
He meets all our needs in Christ Jesus.
We need to live with hands open, unclenched fists, raised up, willing to let go of what we have, to love generously those around us.
Those wide open hands also allows freedom in praise and worship and the ability to receive freely as one has given freely.
Love generously today!

Fearfully and Wonderfully Made

For You formed my inward parts;
You covered me in my mother’s womb.
I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Marvelous are Your works,
And that my soul knows very well.
My frame was not hidden from You,
When I was made in secret,
And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed.
And in Your book they all were written,
The days fashioned for me,
When as yet there were none of them.
How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God!
How great is the sum of them!
If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand;
When I awake, I am still with You.
Psalm 139:13-18
What an encouraging Word.
I am not only known I have been created in a loving, skillful and intentional manner; fearfully and wonderfully made.
My days are fashioned for me and God’s thoughts toward me are great!
The Lord has known me from the beginning.
And He knows where I’m headed.
There are days when we can’t see the beginning from the end, the forest for the trees.
We get caught up in the moment and begin to wonder about who we are.
The Psalmist is clear, that in the midst, we are still created by God with a plan and a purpose.
Despite what the day feels like right now……there is more.
There is always more.
Be encouraged.
Go easy on yourself.
Move forward in your purpose today.

A Burning Fire

Then I said, “I will not make mention of Him,
Nor speak anymore in His name.”
But His word was in my heart like a burning fire
Shut up in my bones;
I was weary of holding it back,
And I could not.
Jeremiah 20:9
Jeremiah the prophet was persecuted for sharing the Word of the Lord.
To preserve himself he made the decision to stop talking about the Lord and to stop delivering His word.
BUT……..there is always a but.
Jeremiah found that “His word was in my heart like a burning fire shut up in my bone; I was weary of holding it back, and I could not.”
2 things to note here:
1) God’s word is not just to sit deep within us, it is meant to go forth.  It is like a burning fire shut up in our bones when we try to hold it back.  It shouldn’t remain shut up within us.
 2) Jeremiah was a prophet.  He was called to carry and give forth God’s word.  It is hard to move against the call of God on your life.
Do you have God’s word deposited deep within you?
Are you moving it forth and sharing it with those around you by the way your live and the way you love?
If not, it will become like a fire shut up in your bones.
What kind of call has God placed on your life?
Are you walking in that?
If not, that too will cause discomfort within you because that call comes from a place of passion within you and when it is not fulfilled there is no why for the passion to be released.
The Word and the passion of the call on your life deposited within you must be set free.
Otherwise you will find yourself like Jeremiah:
“But His word was in my heart like a burning fire shut up in my cones; I was weary of holding it back, and I could not.”
