When we can’t see the forest for the trees…..

“And the Father Himself, who sent Me, has testified of Me. You have neither heard His voice at any time, nor seen His form. “But you do not have His word abiding in you, because whom He sent, Him you do not believe.  “You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. “But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life. John 5:37-40

Sometimes we miss the things that are right in front of us.
Jesus spoke to the people, telling them, in essence, that they were missing what was right in front of them.
They diligently searched the Scriptures for eternal life, however, when He was presented to them as the Messiah, the One the Scripture spoke about, they were unwilling to come to Him to find that eternal life.
Sometimes we get caught up in the”doing” of things.
And in the “doing” we miss out on the “relationship” with Jesus.
Jesus is here today.
He is right here with us.
Set aside the “religious” trappings, the “doing” and walk into the arms of the One who is waiting for you.

Weariness

And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith. Galatians 6:9-10
We all get weary at some point in our lives.
The days seem long and the nights even longer.
All the effort we are putting into our lives and the lives around us seems to catch up with us and we begin to wonder…….
why am I doing all of this.
I’m here to tell you that this isn’t the season to become weary in well doing.
The weariness may set in, but this is a season of pressing in and pressing onward.
The breakthrough is coming if only we hold on, stay focused and press on forward.
Due season is just around the corner!

Rest

A Psalm of David.
The LORD is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.
Psalm 23:1-3
The Lord calls us to a life of rest.
Like a Shepherd, he causes us to lie down in green pastures when we need to slow down.
He brings us beside still waters; waters from which we can safely stop and drink.
He restores our souls in this place of rest.
Rest is a place of peace and calm in our minds, even in the midst.
Rest is a lack of striving, trusting the One who created us and sustains us.
Rest is having a sense of our purpose and destiny and working in and towards that.
Rest is loving generously.
Rest is knowing Who we can turn to when things are rocky.
Rest doesn’t mean doing nothing; it is not a lack of activity, but a state of mind.
Do you need to find some rest today?
Jesus is speaking even today: “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
Come to Him today.
He is the Good Shepherd and He is waiting to lead you to green pastures and still waters where you can find rest for your soul!
