What does your praise look like?

Now it happened as He went to Jerusalem that He passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. Then as He entered a certain village, there met Him ten men who were lepers, who stood afar off.
And they lifted up their voices and said, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!” So when He saw them, He said to them, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed.
And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan. So Jesus answered and said, “Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine? “Were there not any found who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?” And He said to him, “Arise, go your way. Your faith has made you well.” Luke 17:10-19

Jesus, in his travels, met 10 men who were suffering from leprosy.
They cried out to Him for mercy and He gave them direction,
“Go, show yourselves to the priests.”
The men went in obedience.
It was, as they moved in obedience, that their leprosy was healed.
10 men cried out for mercy.
10 men were healed.
But the text says only one of the men, when he saw that he was healed, returned to Jesus and glorified Him.
Yes, Jesus had commanded them to go to the priest and show themselves (as would have been the tradition once they were healed – they moved in faith for their healing).
But sometimes, your praise has to break through your tradition.
Sometimes your praise has to stop you in your path, turn you around and cause you to fall on your face at the feet of Jesus and glorify Him, thanking Him for what He has done in your life.
Jesus recognized the unusual praise of this man;
the praise that caused him to turn back and take the time to glorify the Lord.
What kind of unusual praise do you have for the Lord today?
What tradition do you have to break through?
What path do you need to stop in the midst of and turn back around?
Jesus is calling for those who worship “in spirit and in truth.” (John 4:23)
Will you be the one of the 10 today?

In the Presence of Jesus, Some Thing Just Have to Go!

Now He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath. And behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bent over and could in no way raise herself up. But when Jesus saw her, He called her to Him and said to her, “Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity.” And He laid His hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God. Luke 13:10-13

This woman was 18 years with a spirit of infirmity.
18 years is a long time.
We are clearly told that she “could in no way raise herself up.”
That tells me she tried to raise herself up.
She probably sought out all the help she could find and afford, to no avail.
But when she encountered Jesus, things changed.
He laid hands on her and she was straightened! What a glorious thing!  To be “loosed” in the presence of the Lord!
Do you need to be loosed today?
Is your infirmity in its 18thyear?
It is time for that thing to go!
Get into the presence of Jesus today!
He is waiting to lay hands on you.
And you are waiting to hear the words,
“Woman you are loosed!”

What Should our Life Sound Like?

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Yesterday we talked about what our life should look like, today we will look at what it should sound like.
The Word admonishes us to REJOICE ALWAYS.
Rejoice is an active word- chairō- to rejoice, be glad, to rejoice exceedingly.
When we are exceedingly glad, others around us should HEAR that!
We should PRAY without ceasing!
That doesn’t mean everyone around us should hear every prayer we say all day, but we should be in an attitude of prayer at all times; bringing ourselves, our situations and those around us before the Throne of Grace continuously.
There should be a sound of pray surrounding us at all times!
We need to be giving THANKS in everything!
Everything is not good for us, but God will use all things and work them together for our good.  THANKSGIVING should be coming forth from our lips at all times!
WHY should our life sound like REJOICING, PRAY, and THANKSGIVING?
Because it is the will of God in Christ Jesus for us!
And that is reason enough.
Go forth today and let the sound of heaven go forth from your lips and your life!
