Intentionality

Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way
that you may obtain it. 1 Corinthians 9:24

When Paul talks about doing life like running a race, he isn’t referring to life as a competition where winning is the only goal.
He is referring to the need to move through life with intentionality.
Life isn’t meant to be “a walk in the park”.
Life is meant to have a finish line (or goal) in sight, and to always be moving toward that goal.
It doesn’t mean you can’t “stop and smell the roses” along the way, but it does mean you are not casually sauntering through every day.
You were created with a purpose and a destiny.
Intentional living will move you towards that goal and the prize at the finish line, which is, at the end to hear these words:
‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord”.
At that time we will know that we have lived out the purpose and destiny we were created for, impacting the lives of as many people around us as we could for the better.

The Power of Two

Two are better than one,
Because they have a good reward for their labor.
For if they fall, one will lift up his companion.
But woe to him who is alone when he falls,
For he has no one to help him up.
Again, if two lie down together, they will keep warm;
But how can one be warm alone?
Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him.
And a threefold cord is not quickly broken.
Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

It has been said that there is power in numbers and even two is better than one.
When one falls down, she/he has no one to pick her/him up.
But with two she/he will be encouraged/assisted to rise again.
When one is cold, she/he has no one to warm her/him.
But two generate heat for both.
When one is overcome, she/he finds it hard to defend herself/himself.
But with two there is power to overcome.
We are human beings, we are social beings, and we require others around us to assist and sustain us in this world.
We must learn to look out for one another.
We must learn to support one another.
We must learn to be there for those around us.
We were never meant to be self –sufficient, but rather interdependent.
There is no greater gift than a true friend.
Be that friend today!

Thanksgiving

A Psalm of Thanksgiving.
Make a joyful shout to the LORD, all you lands!
Serve the LORD with gladness;
Come before His presence with singing.
Know that the LORD, He is God;
It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
Enter into His gates with thanksgiving,
And into His courts with praise.
Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.
For the LORD is good;
His mercy is everlasting,
And His truth endures to all generations.
Psalm 100
What are you thankful for today?
Take a few minutes and really think about that.
Now take a few minutes and share it with those around you.
Thanksgiving is a wonderful way to take our eyes off ourselves and focus them on those around us and on the Lord.
