Share the Burden

So the LORD said to Moses: “Gather to Me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom you know to be the elders of the people and officers over them; bring them to the tabernacle of meeting, that they may stand there with you. “Then I will come down and talk with you there. I will take of the Spirit that is upon you and will put the same upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with you, that you may not bear it yourself alone. Numbers 11: 16-17

When Moses became overwhelmed with the burden of the Israelites, he went to God.
God heard his concern and instructed Moses to gather 70 men that God would take of the Spirit that was on Moses, place the same on the 70, and thus they would share the burden of the people.
Often we try to do the work of the Lord in our own strength.
We endeavor to carry out the work that God has called us to on our own.
But God hears the cry of the burden of our heart, even before we verbalize it.
And in His grace and mercy, He places people in our lives that share the same passion and vision He has bestowed upon us for His people and His work.
They come into our lives, for various seasons, to walk with us and to help bear the burden the Lord has placed on us.
Look around you even today and ask the Lord to show you the people He has placed in your path, to bear your burden.
They are there, but in our self- sufficiency we often miss them.
We are called to be the Body of Christ, not to work as islands in and of ourselves, but in partnership with others around us.
Father, open our eyes today, to see clearly, those you have placed in our path to share our burden.

Call Upon Him

For what great nation is there that has God so near to it, as the LORD our God is to us, for whatever reason we may call upon Him? Deuteronomy 4:7

Moses was speaking to the Israelites, reminding them of their history and the goodness of God in their lives, as they began to prepare to enter the Promised Land.
He reminded them of the nearness of God and their ability to call upon Him, for any reason.
What a privilege! Sometimes we need to be reminded of the same thing.
We forget about the nearness of God and our ability to come before Him.

Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:14-16

What is your need today?
Not only can we call upon Him for our needs, we can actually walk with Him in relationship.
How much better is that?
Not just a vending machine in the sky that gives us what we ask for, but One who wants us to walk with Him, day by day, getting to know Him and growing in His strength in our lives.
Will you call upon Him today?
