Inside and out

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
Be acceptable in Your sight,
O LORD, my strength and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:14

Two thoughts this morning:

1) People hear/see what is on the outside – our circumstances and our words, but the Lord sees what is on the inside – our potential and the meditation of our hearts.
People see the facts, the Lord sees the truth.
2) Integrity is when what people see in us, matches what the Lord sees in us.

Are we looking at the facts or the truth?
Does our inside and outside match?
These things will determine the effectiveness and the joy of our journey.

Great Treasure

I rejoice in Your word as one who finds great treasure. Psalm 119:162

The Psalmist wasn’t just a little bit cheerful when he considered God’s word.
The word for rejoice here is: suws meaning to exult, to rejoice, to leap, to spring.
And treasure here means “great spoil”.
The Word of the Lord is a true treasure.
It is valuable beyond measure for guidance and direction, for encouragement and for the development of hope, faith and character in our lives.
In what other book can you find all of these things?
The Word is also living and active – it is not static, but opens up new things to us each time we open it up and are open to it.
Do you truly treasure the Word of God?
Do you spend time in it regularly?
Not in an obedient type of way, but in such a way that you rejoice each time you have opportunity to sit with its pages?
erhaps it is time we began to look at the Word and our time in it, in a new and active way.
Begin to rejoice as you open its pages and come in expectation of what the Lord has for you, rather than approaching it as something to be done.
Soon you will find yourself, as the Psalmist, actively rejoicing, treasuring the Word and looking forward with expectation to each time you have time to sit with it.
