All this has come upon us

All this has come upon us, but we have not forgotten You. Psalm 44:17

And so it often is in life, many things come upon us.
The question is not whether things will or will not come upon us, they will.
The question is what we will do with those things?
Will we take them to the Lord, lay them out before Him and put our trust in His Hand of guidance and direction?
Or will we turn away from Him because of the presence of those things, at a time when we need Him most?
May we be able to say with confidence, this very day, “all this has come upon us, but we have not forgotten You.”

I will fill it!

I am the LORD your God,
Who brought you out of the land of Egypt;
Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it. Psalm 81:10

When reading this I get a picture of a nest of baby birds with their mouths wide open, waiting for the mama and papa birds to fill their mouths with needed sustenance.
The birds know that the parents will provide.
They, in faith and dependence, open their mouths wide, expecting the food to come.
The Lord wants us to be more like this.
He has brought us through and out of so many “Egypt’s” in our life to date.
He asks us to be dependent on Him, to move in His strength and not our own.
And yet we strive.
We strive to make doors open and to make events occur on our own behalf.
Today the Lord is reminding us that He has been faithful in the past and will continue to be faithful in the present and in the future.
Striving is not necessary.
He has a plan and a path laid out for us.
We just need to open our mouths wide and he will fill it!
