Unless…..

Unless the LORD had been my help, my soul would soon have settled in silence. If I say, “My foot slips,” Your mercy, O LORD, will hold me up. In the multitude of my anxieties within me, your comforts delight my soul. Psalm 94:17-19

Mercy =checed= goodness, kindness, faithfulness.
The mercy of the Lord lifts us up when our foot slips and covers the multitude of anxieties in our life.
Comforts-tanchuwm= compassion, consolation.
The comforts of the Lord bring delight or joy to my soul.
As the Psalmist said, “unless the Lord has been my help, my soul would soon have settled in silence.”
The Lord brings strength, courage, comfort and joy into our lives.
When things fall apart, as they will, He is there to show us how to put the pieces back together.
And the picture that He will help us to create with those broken pieces will be unlike anything we could have imagined ourselves.

Dwelling

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.” Psalm 91:1-2

Dwells – yashab – to dwell, remain, tarry.
Where are you dwelling?
Where are you remaining?
Where are you tarrying?
The Word tells us that is we dwell in the secret place of the Most High, we shall abide = luwn-=lodge, pass the night, abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I find it interesting that this word abide has the connotation of lodging overnight.
When the day is as night and the night is long, we can stay in the Presence of the Father.
When we remain in the secret place, our night abiding is under His shadow.
I see a picture of us kneeling in His Presence, He leaning over us in a protective way, so close that His very shadow covers us as we pray.
The key is in where we dwell.
Are we dwelling in His Presence, close enough that His shadow can cover us?
If not, today is the day to make a change.
His Presence is available to us; we need to choose to tarry there.
