Who are you, really?

Now the Angel of the LORD came and sat under the terebinth tree which was in Ophrah, which belonged to Joash the Abiezrite, while his son Gideon threshed wheat in the winepress, in order to hide it from the Midianites. And the Angel of the LORD appeared to him, and said to him, “The LORD is with you, you mighty man of valor! ”Gideon said to Him, “O my lord, if the LORD is with us, why then has all this happened to us? And where are all His miracles which our fathers told us about, saying, ‘Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt?’ But now the LORD has forsaken us and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.” Then the LORD turned to him and said, “Go in this might of yours, and you shall save Israel from the hand of the Midianites. Have I not sent you?” So he said to Him, “O my Lord, how can I save Israel? Indeed my clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house.”
And the LORD said to him, “Surely I will be with you, and you shall defeat the Midianites as one man.”

The Angel of the Lord found Gideon hiding in the winepress, threshing his wheat, so that the Midianites would not steal it.
Two powerful statements are made about Gideon: 1) he is called a mighty man of valour 2) he is told he will save Israel.
Neither of these statements line up with what Gideon is experiencing in the natural realm.
The third statement explains everything: “surely I will be with you”.
When we are in the Lord, it doesn’t matter what we see or hear or experience in the natural.
God speaks who we really are and what our situation really is.
 Circumstances are just facts.
God speaks truth.
We must learn to live in the truth that God speaks about us and about our circumstances, rather than living in what we experience in the natural.
We are spiritual beings, living in a natural world.
We must learn to move in the spiritual realm.
Who is God saying you are today?
What truth is God speaking about your circumstances?
Ask Him for clarity and wisdom and move forward, in Him, in His truth, today.

A Door of Hope

Therefore, behold, I will allure her, will bring her into the wilderness, and speak comfort to her. I will give her her vineyards from there, and the Valley of Achor as a door of hope; she shall sing there, as in the days of her youth, as in the day when she came up from the land of Egypt. “And it shall be, in that day,” says the LORD, “That you will call Me ‘My Husband,’ and no longer call Me ‘My Master,’ Hosea 2:14-16

God is speaking of His people, the Israelites, who have once again strayed from Him and His care.  He promises to bring them into the wilderness (midbar in Hebrew)
which actually has a connotation of pasture rather than desert;
a place to be fed and refreshed and cared for.
The Valley of Achor is the Valley of Trouble –
but in their trouble, God promises to give them a door of hope.
He also promises a change in relationship –
from Master to Husband; from a place of
religion (do and don’ts) to a
place of relationship (intimacy).
Do you need a door of hope today?
Do you need to be led into the wilderness, into the pasture to be fed and refreshed?
Ask the Lord today to bring you into that place and through that door.
And in going through you will see that your relationship with Him changes
from one of a task master that requires performance
to a husband that requires your presence.
