He will Equip You

Then Moses said to the LORD, “O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither before nor since You have spoken to Your servant; but I am slow of speech and slow of tongue.” So the LORD said to him, “Who has made man’s mouth? Or who makes the mute, the deaf, the seeing, or the blind? Have not I, the LORD? “Now therefore, go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall say.” Exodus 4:10-12

God called Moses to go and speak to the leaders of Israel and to the Egyptians with directions to take the Israelites out into the wilderness to worship the Lord.
Moses felt unequipped, as he was, to go and speak confidently and clearly to these people on behalf of the Lord.
When he protested, he gave detailed reasons why he was not the one the Lord should send.
But God…….
the Lord countered Moses’ protests by pointing out the fact that He had, indeed, created Moses and his mouth.
He further directed that Moses was to go and allow the Lord to be his mouth and teach him what to say.
The Lord does the same with us.
He has created us.
He has created our unique gifts and abilities.
He knows exactly the potential the rests within us.
If the Lord has called us to something, we can be sure that He will teach us to use that gifting that He has placed within us.
Instead of wasting time protesting the Lord’s call on our life, we need to learn to step confidently forward when we are called, allowing the Lord to teach us what to do and say!
“Now therefore, go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall say.”

One More Time Around the Mountain

Then we turned and journeyed into the wilderness of the Way of the Red Sea, as the LORD spoke to me, and we skirted Mount Seir for many days.  “And the LORD spoke to me, saying: ‘You have skirted this mountain long enough; turn northward.” Deuteronomy 2:2

“For the LORD your God has blessed you in all the work of your hand. He knows your trudging through this great wilderness. These forty years the LORD your God has been with you; you have lacked nothing.” ’ Deuteronomy 2:7

We’ve all been around the mountain a time or do.
Sometimes it takes a few trips round to learn the lesson;
before God says “you have skirted this mountain long enough”!
Interestingly, in the second verse, although God acknowledges that they have been trudging through the wilderness, He also points out two things:
1) The LORD your God has been with you and
2) you have lacked nothing.
So what do I want you to take away from this morning’s devotions?
1) even when you are in the wilderness, you are not alone and God will provide all that you need
2) the Lord is saying today, “you have skirted this mountain long enough”

Today is a new day; a day of new beginnings and new possibilities.
Come out from around the mountain, turn northward and began to follow the path to the Promised Land that the Lord has laid out for you.
That lesson is learned and it is now time to apply it.

As a Man Thinks

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my strength and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:14

For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.  Proverbs 23:7

It is not always about what comes out of our mouths.
Often it is about what comes out of our heart.
We can say many things, covering up the true intentions and thoughts of our heart, but eventually, regardless of what we say, out heart intentions show.
When communicating, a large percentage of the way we make our feelings known is not in what we say but in our body language.
And that body language comes naturally from how we really feel about the situation or the person or the topic.
The Lord knows, not just what comes out of our mouth, but what is in our hearts.
The psalmist asked that not only his words be acceptable but that his heart also be acceptable before the Lord.
What is your heart meditating on today?
Is it on love, peace, joy and the work the Father has for you?
Or is it thinking on bitterness, anger or envy?
We must become intentional about what we meditate upon in our hearts.
What do we need to be meditating on this very day?
The Word tells us:
“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.”
