Direct Access

Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well?” The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me.” Jesus said to him, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.” And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked. And that day was the Sabbath. John 5: 5-9

I love this story.
This man had been lying by the pool for so many years.
Because of his affliction he couldn’t get to the pool first when it was stirred up, to be healed.
He was relying solely on those around him for his healing.
And then Jesus appeared.
Once this man had direct access to Jesus, he no longer had to appeal to those around him to help him.  The Master was right there.
Jesus commanded the man to “rise, take up your bed and walk” and the man was healed.
We often find ourselves in the same situation as this man;
for years we look for healing by waiting on those around us –
we wait on others to pray for us, to give us direction, to touch us with a healing hand.
I’m here to tell you the good news.
We already have direct access to Jesus.
God is no respecter of persons;
He doesn’t value one of us above the other.
We can all come into his presence and seek His face.
And the beauty of being in the direct presence of Jesus is that where healing takes place.
Things happen in the presence of the Lord.
Seek His face and His presence today, for yourself.
Don’t wait on those around you to take you to the Lord.
Go to the Lord on your own behalf.
He is waiting for you!
