The Company we Keep

Now the mixed multitude who were among them yielded to intense craving; so the children of Israel also wept again and said: “Who will give us meat to eat? “We remember the fish which we ate freely in Egypt, the cucumbers, the melons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic; “but now our whole being is dried up; there is nothing at all except this manna before our eyes!” Numbers 11:4-6

When the Israelites left Egypt there were others who left with them.
The Bible refers to them as the “mixed multitude”.
We are told that it was the mixed multitude that “yielded to intense cravings” and that their cravings influenced the Israelites to weep once again and begin to complain before the Lord.
We are influenced by the company we keep and complaining is highly contagious.
Once it starts within a group it spreads and intensifies quickly.
We must be aware of who we are spending time with.
Are we people of the same mind and purpose?
Do we have similar intentions and desires?
Are we clear about our destination and the path we need to take to get there?
Likewise our attitudes and the words that come out of our mouth influence those around us.
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue” Proverbs 18:21
We need to ensure that we are not the source of the complaining that spreads through our groups.  Take a moment today and assess the words that are coming out of your mouth and the words that are coming out of the mouths of those around you.
Do you need a change?
Today is the day!
