Love Generously

Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due,
When it is in the power of your hand to do so.
Do not say to your neighbor,
“Go, and come back,
And tomorrow I will give it,”
When you have it with you.
Proverbs 3:27-28

We are called to love.
We are called to love those who love us and those who don’t love us.
We are called to love those who treat us well and those who don’t treat us well.
We are called to love.
The thing about real love is that it expects nothing in return and it gives generously.
Proverbs clearly indicates that we are to do good to others when we have the power to do so.
It says that when you have something with you, don’t tell your neighbour to come back another day, but give it to them at that moment.
I believe that most of us want to love generously.
I believe some of the issue is that we truly believe we don’t have anything to give.
We are concerned about having enough for ourselves, whether it is in time or resources, and because of that, we fail to see how blessed we are and how much we actually have to share with our neighbour.
Our Lord is the great Provider.
He meets all our needs in Christ Jesus.
We need to live with hands open, unclenched fists, raised up, willing to let go of what we have, to love generously those around us.
Those wide open hands also allows freedom in praise and worship and the ability to receive freely as one has given freely.
Love generously today!
