40th Birthday Party a Week Early
I was blessed beyond blessed at my early 40th birthday party!
Friends and family together
In one room
Laughing, talking, sharing
Getting to know each other
All from different pieces, parts and times of my life
But all part of me
Together
It was perfect
Tears fell when I walked in – so beautiful and perfect
My dearest friends Flo and Ted have been such a blessing these last 10 years
And once again Flo put her gift of hospitality and serving to use – to bless me
There were balloons and food
Presents in colourful bags with ribbons and colored paper
There were baby twins in precious little dresses – stealing the show
Birthday cake with dance slippers
Many hugs and greetings
So much love in one room
Rev Reid spoke a beautiful blessing of thanks, not only for the food but for my life and for that which God still has in store – more tears
And food – lots of food – brought forth by the hands of friends and eaten together in sweet fellowship
And then – the cake – time to blow out the candles
Wow – who knew that 40 would come
I didn’t know I would make it this far and yet here I am and surrounded by love
My mother thanks Flo for taking care of “her daughter”
And Flo responds “it is my pleasure, she is as close as a daughter – we love her”

More hugs and thank yous and farewells until next time
So happy you came
We wouldn’t have missed it
You are so precious to me
And you to me
The room empties
A quiet visit with our host and hostess – our dearest friends – to catch up
Time to head home
On the way to the car, the hurried question “what did you think”
My heart felt response “it was perfect, absolutely perfect”
Peace deep within
I am loved
Even in this moment the Father shows me His love through the people He has brought into my life
From those who have been with me the whole 40 years to those I’ve known only 3 months
I am content
I am me – unique – created to be as I am
I am 40 (almost)
And blessed beyond blessed
